    short poof on one's head

    Hi there,

Could anyone help me with this sentence, thank you.

"Her hair was cut geometrically into a short poof on her head."

Thank you very much for your help

Looks very odd to me. Perhaps the hair was gathered into a bun (http://cdn.blogs.sheknows.com/celebs...hairstyles.jpg ), and perhaps in some forms of English this hairstyle is referred to as a pouffe (http://www.johnlewis.com/jl_assets/p.../230165762.jpg). But in Br Eng a pouffe is a piece of furniture.

But she couldn't have that sort of poof on her head

PS And, incidentally, how can hair be cut geometrically. It's a very odd sentence all round. I'm trying to think of a typo - or even a pair of typos - that would make sense of it; but I can't.

Re: short poof on one's head

In hair styling terms, a "poof" is a small fluffy bunch of hair. For example, if you gathered only the hair on top of your head into one bunch and secured it with a rubber band and then back-combed it so that it fluffed out like a broccoli floret, that would be a "poof" of hair. A geometric cut that "poofed" might look like this.

P.S. I'm sensing that Tdol and Bob are much like my husband, who flees the room if I put America's Next Top Model or Hair Wars on TV. Thus they no nothing about such crucial things in life like geometric haircuts, hair poofs, weaves, etc.

Until this post I read Ouisch's posts with interest and a degree of respect. I now know that she watches America's Next Top Model or Hair Wars on TV. I say no more.
