    im happy to have found this forum.
    could someone help me with this, please? which is correct?

    They arranged the group will be led / is led / be led by a guide.

    They arranged for a guide to lead the group.

    Thank you, it's the answer I had in mind too. Still, this sentence was taken out of a test that had these options (meaning the student was to choose one of the three):
    will be led
    be led
    is led

    That's what threw me off. I have a pretty good understanding of English. I lived overseas and worked with Americans for a long time. And yet some of the tests I'm looking at right now are killing me.

    You have my sympathy; I despair at some of the choices given to students in some tests. I just cannot accept any of those choices as natural English.

    Hi questionmark,

    I'm afraid none of those answers work at all. You need "to be led," and as already said above, it would be much better to have "for" the group.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
