HI dear teachers!
I came across this sentence in this link and I was wondering if it is correct!
TSMC hasn’t taped out any 28nm AMD parts and even if they did, the production won't be ready until second half of 2011.
In my opinion ''won't'' has to be replaced with ''would'nt''. What do you think?
"Even if" is more often a statement on non-conditionality.
It is known that the production won't be ready until 2011 under any circumstances.
The production won't be ready until 2011 regardless of the AMD parts.
The production won't be ready until 2011 even if the parts are made.
The date of producton is not conditional on the parts. (Actually, we're not sure about this from the sentence, but we know that the parts are not the rate-limiting step. Even if the parts are necessary for the production, producing them sooner won't make the production date any earlier.)
"Wouldn't" could make sense as well, but it's not necessary.
