Various ideas and opinions of what the case or presentation might be about opens up our mind/minds/mindset/nindsets as we hear about our friends’ opinions.

1. Is the clause in bold correctly used?
2. If the clause is correct, should it be 'mindset' or 'mindsets', 'minds' or 'minds'?

It's not a very good sentence, Elaine, it's not at all clear.
