Use loudly, the adverb, to modify speak.Hello!
Are we supposed to use "loud" or "loudly", here?
"You must speak loud".
Thank you

It's an accepted phrase that means "read with a voice." It is not concerned with the volume of the voice. Why do we say "read out loud" and not loudly?
Thank you
Thank you.
So we will say "Don't speak so loudly!" and not "Don't speak so loud!" Am I right?
Thank you
Both versions are acceptable.

Hi WillUse loudly, the adverb, to modify speak.
Addendum: My basic Oxford American Dictionary accepts loud as an adverb. This wouldn't be my choice.
