1-What is the difference between dialects and accents?

Very broadly speaking, differences in accent are recognised by differences in vowel sounds (and occasionally in consonant sounds).

For example, I come from Southern England and pronounce the vowel sound in bath in an almost identical way to the vowel sound in car. People from the North of England pronounce the bath vowel in an almost identical way to that in cat. That's a difference in accent.

In different dialects, people may use different words and constructions. For example, people in some parts of Scotland might say," I'll not be going the while," when I would say, "I won't be going yet". That's a difference in dialect.

2-How can the word "ajowan" be pronounced?

Sorry, I don't know the word.

When I say: I have an AC in my bedroom, the abbreviation of AC is:

air condition
or
air conditioning
or
air conditioned
or
air conditioner

to mean the name of the machine itself.
What is the correct use and why?

Can anybody explain to me why people ask totally unrelated questions in a thread?

If you have a fresh question, please start a fresh thread.

If you have a fresh question, please start a fresh thread.

Do you want me to write 3 or 4 threads, each separate thread includes only one single question!!
This takes time and effort.
It means to follow 3 threads at least and to post many posts a day, meanwhile you can do this at short time one time, open and follow only one thread without forgetting to read others' posts.
If you follow only one thread is easier than to follow more!!

It is a little unfortunate for you if receiving answers to your questions requires time and effort on your part. It actually requires time and effort on the part of those who answer your questions, but they don't generally complain. It is makes life easier for those people to if you follow Forum guidelines:
Start a new thread for a new question

It takes time and effort from me also.
I don't have much time to follow 3 or more new threads.

If you can't make the slight effort required to follow forum guidelines, then I doubt if many people will bother to wade through your long threads to give you an answer.

In fact, yes, we do. When the questions have little to do with each other, answers to the various questions get inter-mixed in the thread, making it difficult to see what answer applies to which question.

This takes time and effort.
So does responding to our members' posts!

If you follow only one thread is easier than to follow more!!
I don't agree. Unrelated questions have interwoven threads of discussion in the same thread. That's hard for everyone!

To remove temptation, I am going to close this thread. Please start different threads for different questions; it makes things much easier to follow.
