get in the way of something

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right about my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

..she would never try to get in the way of his career. (M. Dickens, “The Room Upstairs”)

get in the way of something = stand in the way of something

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V
