    Don't wanna affect

    - I don't want to affect his family's happiness and I also don't want to be the third wheel because he's married with 2 children.

    - Is this sentence good to say?

Thanks so much to Teachers and members!

    Yep, perfect!
Many students (and native speakers) make mistakes with 'affect' and 'effect', you are not one of them.

    Re: Don't wanna affect

... although the sense is rather strange. Do you mean 'I don't want to break up a happy marriage'? I've never met the expression 'the third wheel'. Perhaps it translates an expresson used in both Chinese and Japanese.

    Re: Don't wanna affect

Here in the RS, the phrase would be easily understood as well.

Oh yes - understanding wasn't a problem - just that in Br Eng it wouldn't spring to mind in that context.

Grammatically it may be correct, but in English a "third wheel" is the exact equivalent of the Cantonese 電燈泡 (din dan dam, sorry for the simplified characters).

So I don't see the relationship between the kids and the shy person who doesn't want to disturb the romance.
