    dish the dirt

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me whether I am right about my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Stop dishing the dirt Sally, it’s really unbecoming!

dish the dirt = slander, spread rumors, speak ill of, rummage in somebody’s else washing

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

There're oodles of dictionaries online. Why do you dislike using them?
