    into the common cold

What does the "into the common cold" mean in this sentence?

They're asking for students to be guinea pigs in their research into the common cold.

    Thanks a lot

    Re: into the common cold

The common cold is a viral infection that causes coughing, a sore throat and a runny nose, etc, and it is their area of research. (we say research into something)
