Miranda is having a reunion with two of her schoolmates. And because of Miranda's height and build, she is often called "queen kong" by her friends. At the begining of their conversation, her friends jocularly say,"You're the Empress of Kong. You're Kongoleezza Rice."So what do these two sentence mean exactly? What is "Empress of Kong".And who is "Kongoleezza Rice"?Any help in enlightening me on the meaning of these two expressions will be much appreciated.Thank you again.:)

Condoleeza Rice was the second Secretary of State under US President George W. Bush. I have no idea what the "Empress of Kong" could refer to.

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

On The Way,

Here are some things that you may or may not already know:

(1) "King Kong" was a popular movie made in 1933 about a

huge gorilla. Maybe the most famous scene is the one in which

he climbs the Empire State Building in New York City.

(2) I do not know who "Miranda" is, but since she is a female,

her friends could not call her "King Kong," so they apparently decided

to call her "Queen Kong."

(3) Maybe they joked that she was "Empress of Kong" because

maybe an empress is higher in rank than a queen. For

example, maybe some people feel that the title "emperor" is

grander and more important than "king."

(4) Then "Miranda" 's friends did something very bad.

Let me explain:

(a) As riquecohen explained, Ms. Condoleeza Rice was the

Secretary of State when our president was Mr. George W. Bush.

(The person who holds that position has the responsibility of

dealing with other countries.)

(b) Ms. Rice is an American of African ancestry.

(c) Therefore, it is very offensive to refer to someone as

K _ _ _ _ leeza Rice."

Thank you & have a nice day
