    What does the "at" mean in this sentence?

    The computer department is at the hub of the company's operations.

    Because I think if I leave out the "at" of the sentence, it also makes sense. I wonder if the meaning will be different?

    If you take it out, the department is the only thing at the centre of the operations. If you leave it in, the department is central, but there could be other important things too.
