My answer: noun (A)fter-effect is a compound noun; "after" pre-modifies "effects" -- adjective-like in function.
Sit down and rest for a while. - What part of speech is while?
My answer: perposition And where is the prepositional complement, IYO? No, it is a noun preceded by a determiner, which also suggests that it is not a preposition but a noun.

    My answer: noun Preposition.

    Re: Parts of speech

In "Sit down for a while", "while" is a noun.

I would like to return to the question of "after-effect". It is also written as one word, which means to me that "after" is a prefixum. But this is a morphological term and not a part of speech. IMO, we cannot say that "after" in "aftereffect" belongs to a part of speech because it is embedded in one word, which, in our case, is a noun.

    Re: Parts of speech

    They are acronyms.

Definitions of acronym - OneLook Dictionary Search

IYO stands for "in your opinion", IMO for "in my opinion". IMHO is also used, in which H means "humble".
