Re: Reading - British or English

The volume is very low on the file. Are you reading a text? It always helps if you could speak without reading because stress and intonation often become artificial when we read something aloud. However, the are you could work on a bit from what I could hear would be vowel sounds- it sounded like you said /ɒnt/ where I would say /ɑ:nt/ for aunt. (I'm a BrE speaker)

First of all - thank you very much!

If you want, I'll re-record it, so you can hear better.
Yes, I was reading the text.
I asked this, becouse my British teacher told me that my reading is bad,
and I wanted to hear your opinion.
    And yes, I said aunt.

And can you please tell me how good-bad am I? 1-10?
And do I sound better when I read British or English?
    And do you understood me?

Re: Reading - British or English

What do you mean by 'British or English'?

The first is a nationality and the second is the language.

Re: Reading - British or English

I tried to listen and got rebuffed by my computer, saying the file was infected with a virus.

    Be careful, please!
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

Re: Reading - British or English

I found the second reading easier to understand, but neither was particularly easy.

Am I right that in the first one you tried to speak AmE and in the other, BrE?

Barb: Oops, I hope my antivirus would know if something was happening...

    I hadn't got a clue.
    Then DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS TAPE!

Yes, you're right. Then I will, from now on speaking only in British.
