    interest

    Hi,

How to understand the "interest" in the following sentence?

His interest may be sincere, but I suspect he has an ax to grind.

Does it mean "what someone likes to do" or "intention"?

    Thanks a lot

    Re: interest

    More context would help.

Context would help, but I can give at least a preliminary answer. I am pretty sure that in that sentence "interest" means (expression of interest)(involvement)(concern).

His (expression of interest in)(involvement in/with)(concern with) X may be sincere, but.........

If you have some context, we can see if I am right or not.

    Dear friends,

Please don't categorize me as a stubborn young man.

And here is the context, see here.

I don't understand this. Nobody is categorising you as 'stubborn'

And here is the context, see here.
Unfortunately your link provides no real context. 2006's response is as sound as you will get.

Yes, for what I wanted to say was that it was merely a sentence, I couldn't make up a story to confuse you, right?

    Thanks a lot, I agree with 2006.
