    odd sentence with 'figuring out'?

    Dear teachers...

    Is this sentence OK?

I have been figuring out a way of learning faster and more effectively...that's why I joined the club...I am back in business.

I find it a bit odd, but can't provide a better version.

    Thanks

If the "figuring out" is finished and the question resolved, use "I have figured out..."

Actually, the action is not finished. It's still on.

In that case, what do you mean by "...I am back in business"?

Re: odd sentence with 'figuring out'?

Hm...interestingly, I think I could leave that 'I am back in business' part out and the meaning of the sentence would not change. It just means I have been studying English, for example, for a while, then I learned about this club, this English forum, so I decided to join (in).

What I am worried about is the use of present perfect continuous with 'figure out'. I have never seen a similar sentence before.

Nothing wrong with that. Quite normal use.
