    When are articles capitalized?

"A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year"?

Why articles "A" are capitalized (while "and" not)?
    What does it mean?
Usually, I believe, the articles, prepositions are not capitalized

"A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year"? In this sentence only the first "A" needs to be capitalised, the second should be lower case.

    Re: When are articles capitalized?

I cannot find where I saw only the articles "A" (without "and") capitalized.
But when articles capitalized, what are they supposed to convey
    (in comparison with non-capitalized ones)?

Only articles that appear at the beginning of a sentence should be capitalised, except if they are part of a title or proper name which is habitually capitalised. "We are going to see "A Winter's Tale" this evening", for example.
