    Smile well-mannered

Which is acceptable or better, (1), (2) or (3) ?

    (1) If well-mannered people accidentally offend other people, they will apologize and try not to make the same mistake again.
    (2) If a well-mannered person accidentally offend other people, he will apologize and try not to make the same mistake again.
    (3) Polite people will apologize and try to avoid making the same mistake again.

They are all acceptable (note 'offends' in (2)).

    (3) gives no reason why they should apologise (BE spelling).

Why don't you stick to the if?
Polite people will apologize and try to avoid making the same mistake again if they accidentally offend other people.

    Cheers!

    Re: well-mannered

To me, in such cases "if" and "when" are gramatically appropriate as long as the sentence is not conditional
