    horridly commonsense

    Dear teachers,

Would you tell me your opinion regarding the interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentences?

”If I can be of any further service” suggested the young man, “I will call a cab, or – “
“Thank you,” said the girl, softly but heartily. I am sure you need not trouble yourself any further. It was so awkward of me. And my shoe heels are horribly commonsense; I can’t blame them at all.”

horridly commonsense = (in the present case) not elegant, but low and comfortable

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V

Yes. Sensible shoes rather than fashionable.

    Re: horridly commonsense

    Hi apex2000,

I beg your pardon, but would you satisfy my curiosity to tell me whether may I say : She was putted on with a pair of easy fit.

I mean "of easy fit" = comfortable

    Regards,

    V.

'putting on', Vil; take care with your tenses.
I would also suggest: easy-fit shoes.
Other items of clothing may be made for an easy fit instead of a close or tight fit.
