    Smile unbending

Please check out the following sentences. Are they acceptable?

    (1) Thanks to iron-willed and unbending determination, Hong-Chih Kuo has become a top left-handed pitcher.
    (2) Owing to his unbending nature, Hong-Chih Kuo has become a top left-handed pitcher.
    (3) Owing to his unbending willpower, Hong-Chih Kuo has become a top left-handed pitcher.

    Re: unbending

    Hi Ashiuhto

As a NES, but not a teacher:

    1, definitely works for me
    2. works, but I would prefer to use "Due" rather than "Owing".
    3. I'm less confident about the term "willpower" and would make the same change as in 2.

    Hope this helps
