Question What is the meaning of "spokesmouse"?

    Dear Teacher,
Today, I come across the word spokesmouse, I do not know its meaning, please explain it. Thanks.
    Its context is:
Now this mouse was not your ordinary rodent, but a spokesmouse for all the little animals in the jungle.

Re: What is the meaning of "spokesmouse"?

It's a play on the word "spokesman." A spokesman speaks for other people. This is a mouse, not a man, so it's a spokesmouse.

It's not a real word -- it was invented for that story.

You could write a story with a spokeselephant or spokesdolphin as well.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
