    paraphrasing of one sentence 21

    Dear teachers,

Would you share with me your opinion concerning the following two sentences?

    1. What with the snowstorm and the telephone dead we are held up here.

    2. What with the snowstorm and the telephone dead we are stuck here.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,

    V.

I feel that 'held up' has a suggestion of a temporary delay; 'stuck' suggests a longer delay.
