    Smile meet

Which of the following sentence is acceptable, (1) or (2)?

    (1) After we left school, we have never met each other for twenty years.
    (2) After we left school, we have never seen each other for twenty years.

Neither are correct as you've written them.
First, 'never' is wrong. 'Never' should be used strictly for 'not ever'. We don't say, "I never met him since the last time I met him". If you've met him once, you don't say you've never met him.

Second, the present perfect is wrong. If, now, you still have not met/seen him for twenty years when you were at school, you can say, "We haven't met/seen each other for twenty years, since we left school."

If you then meet him today, you can say, "Until today, we hadn't seen each other for twenty years, since we left school.

Then, if you begin to see him often again, you can say, "There was a time, after we left school, when we didn't see each other for twenty years"
