    dismiss as ...

Vegetarians are no longer dismissed as cranks.

what does it mean by "dismissed as cranks"?

Let me guess. Does it mean that vegetarians are so unimportant as to be cranks?

    Thank you ,.

    Re: dismiss as ...

Regarded as cranks and seen as unimportant.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
