    when+past perfect or past simple

"'Command'? Command whom? When have the
Canucks ever fought for anything except a puck? And that's
the only thing on the ice that is black — ever noticed that?"

Is it possible to use the past simple in the sentence "When did the Canucks ever fight......"?

    Yes.
