    (Br Eng). Some people (Am Eng?) use a strong past - 'plead' (as in the simple past of 'read'. 'Pled' is simply a misspelling - as, paradoxically - is 'lead' when it is the simple past of 'lead' (correctly, 'led'). Both errors are common - perhaps common enough for some people to defend them.
