    My Translation

    Hello,

Could you please correct my translation?

"Would you like to come in please?
'Yes, thank you. I am very pleased to meet you and your husband. I patrol streets every evening. In case of need you can address me anytime.
'Thank you. I think I will avail myself of your help/offer right now. I have to go to the drugstore, but our car is at the workshop truck at the moment.
'I will be glad to give you a lift, ma'am.'
'Thank you. I will just tell my husband and come down in a minute.'
    "Now we can leave.'
'Don't stay too long darling-they heard Nick's voice.'
"I will come soon, Nick. Come on inspector. I have to go to the bank too.'
"Don't worry ma'am. I will wait for you there and and then drive you back home. I doubt wheather anyone will agree to take you back . It's too late now and your house is too far from the center."
"I do hate to bother you inspector Adams.'
    "it's all right ma'am.

    Sondra,

    (1) First, may I congratulate you on two things:

    (a) Your English is great.

    (b) You are so lucky to live somewhere with such helpful

    police officers!!!!!

    (2) Now may I just gently suggest a few minor revisions:

"Would you like to come in?" [I am not comfortable with that "please."
I cannot give you a reason, for I do not understand the reason myself.]

"Yes, thank you. I just wanted to introduce myself to you and your husband. I patrol these streets every evening. If you ever have a problem, feel free to call me at any time."

"Thank you so much. In fact, I need to go to the drugstore, but I cannot drive there because our car is being repaired."

"I would be more than happy to give you a lift/ride, ma'am."

"I'll just go upstairs and tell my husband. One moment, please."

    "OK. I'm ready."

"Don't stay out too long, darling," Nick was heard to say.

"I'll be back soon, Nick. By the way, Inspector, I need to go to the bank, too."

"Don't worry, ma'am. I'll wait for you at the bank and then bring you home.
I do not think that you can get anyone to drive you home at this time of the day. Besides, your home is quite far from the downtown area. "

"I do hate to bother so much, Inspector."

    "No problem, ma'am."

Thank you so much for your comments and corrections !
I haven't answered to those teachers comments yet who found the policeman's offer weird. As for me, this doesn't seem to be strange.
maybe because I remember polite officers from American movies.
    Why can't they be polite?

Thank you for your kind note.

I think that some people find that dialogue rather humorous

because here in the United States, police officers would (politely!!!)

tell that lady: "Call a taxi." I live in a big American city. Police officers

definitely would not take anyone to the drugstore or bank. In fact,

I just saw a humorous TV commercial. A woman who has eyesight

problems gets into a car and says something like, "Take me to X."

She thinks that she has gotten into a taxi. Actually, she has entered

a police car!!! Of course, the police officer is astonished by her

    instructions!!!

    Thank you

You are welcome. Could you tell me please if I should remove that polite offer from the text?

I think that you should leave the text exactly as it is. There is

no reason to remove anything. As I understand it, you wanted

some advice on the grammar -- not the ideas. You are the

author, so you have to a right to say what you wish.

    Best wishes.
