Please make the following in bold clear for me.

1. What Steve Jobs was doing represented him; it was intuitive but inspired. He didn't know he was doing something Einstein had recommended: "Follow what's mysterious."

Is this saying something like "follow your own intuition."

2. It would lead him to the series of elegant, accessible, intuitive, beautiful, powerful devices that have come to define his career. The whole world would change for him ... and he would change the world.

Does this mean "the whole world would change because of him"? In that case, it seems to be the same as saying "he would change the world."

Thank you.

Unpakwon,

(1) It is only my opinion that "would change for him" in your

example definitely does NOT mean "because of him."

When the world changes for you, it means that your outlook

on life changes. Perhaps one of the biggest ways the world

changes for a person is the time when one's mother dies.

Before she died, a person has a certain attitude toward life

in general; after one's mother dies, the world seems to be a

diffferent place. Many a poet has commented that after his/her

mother died, that poet was never again the same person. In other

words, your perspective starts to change (you start to realize what is

truly important in life). If that quotation is about Mr. Jobs, then you

can see how his inventions have truly changed his outlook on life.

I do not know anything about him. I can only guess that before he

got into the computer business, he had one attitude toward life. After

his computer business became successful, I can imagine how much the

world (that is, life) changed for him: money, power, fame, fear(?)

started to be a part of his life. Before he was successful, I am

guessing that those things (money, power, etc.) did not figure much in

his life.

(1) I hear that Mr. Jobs is ill. I am sure that we all wish him the best.

(2) I cannot answer your first question.

...

Not exactly, or at least not entirely. 'Consider what is mysterious to you, and investigate that'. For some people, this will involve following their intuition. But for some, investigating and pursuing what is mysterious may be counter-intuitive.
