    Two questions

    Hi,

    1.

What does away mean in the following sentence?

Success is often an idea away.

    2.
The star halfback is out of action with a bad knee.

What does "star halfback" mean? The famous halfback? Because I know quarterback, I guess the might belong to the same sphere, baseball perhaps. Does the "star" mean famous?

    Thanks a lot

    Re: Two questions

    star:
a very famous, successful and important person, especially a performer such as a musician, actor or sports player
    a rock/movie/football star
Kids wanting to be stars come to Hollywood from all over America.
    halfback:
(in football and other sports) a player who plays in the middle of the field, in front of the fullbacks and behind the forwards
    from dictionary.cambridge.org

    away:
    Macmillan:
used for showing distance or time
used for saying how far it is to a place
5 miles/100 yards etc. away: The nearest hospital is about eight miles away.
away from: Robert’s brother was standing only a few feet away from me.
"distance" is used metaphorically. You have to go (a distance) and find the idea before you get success.
