whenever I do a grammar exercise and I see an example (without a wider context) similar to the following:
We went to the cinema last night. I ______ like the film very much.
I know that I should complete it with didn't . I know that I should assume that the latter sentence refers to the moment in the past when I was watching or watched the film.
However, in Polish we would use the present tense as we have seen the film so we know the film now and this is our current opinion on it.
Is it possible to use the present simple for the same reasons and complete the above example with don't?
Thank you for your help.
Saying that you don't like the film suggests that you have seen it more than once, and that your opinion does not change.
