Hi guys! I don't know English well so please help me to find the answer. I write a software and I need to translate it correctly to English.
What is the difference between Loan and Lending? Loan I mean as noun.

1. I have a record in my software and the open window on this record looks like this:

Window title: Loan
Friend: John
Item: Book.
Loan type: Lent to (or Loan type: Borrowed from)

Is it correct? Or window title should be "Lending", and "Loan type" should be as "Lending type"?

2. I have the two lists with the following records:

Lent to John, start date1, return date1
Lent to Eric, start date2, return date2
Lent to Tim, start date3, return date3

Borrowed from John, start date1, return date1
Borrowed from John, start date2, return date2
Borrowed from John, start date3, return date3

What names I can give to this lists, "Loan history" or "Lending history"?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Blueomega,

I don't think there is a 'right' answer to your questions - although if I understand you correctly, you are comparing loan and lending as two nouns? If that is the case, I should point out that I have never heard 'lending' used as a noun (although I did find it in a dictionary, so it is considered a valid word).

Window title: Loan
Friend: John
Item: Book.
Loan type: Lent to (or Loan type: Borrowed from)

...is fine.

Lent to John, start date1, return date1
Lent to Eric, start date2, return date2
Lent to Tim, start date3, return date3

Borrowed from John, start date1, return date1
Borrowed from John, start date2, return date2
Borrowed from John, start date3, return date3

I think 'Loan history' is fine for these records. You could use 'lending history', but for consistency with the previous record.
