    Extra information and commas?

A cat sat on the mat.

A Tom cat sat on the mat.

A black and white Tom cat sat on the mat.

A black and white Tom cat sat on the doormat.

A black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the doormat.

A black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the blue doormat.

A black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the blue kitchen doormat.

A spotless black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the blue kitchen doormat.

A spotless black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the blue kitchen doormat.

A spotless black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the navy blue kitchen doormat.

A spotless black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the dirty navy blue kitchen doormat.

A spotless black and white six year old Tom cat sat on the dirty navy blue front kitchen doormat.

Are commas required at any stage and if so why?

Harry, the spotless black and white six year old Tom cat, sat on the dirty navy blue front kitchen doormat.

    Thanks for your patience everybody.

    Re: Extra information and commas?

I would not feel the need to use any commas in those sentences (except the one beginning 'Harry').

However, tom cat does not need a capital letter and six-year-old needs hyphenating.
