    'single ....

    1) Shall we call the marital status as 'single for :
    • widow
    • widower
    • divorcee

    2) According to what I checked in dictionary, 'divorcee' stands for a woman whose mariage has been legally ended.

What is the English for a man whose mariage has been legally ended?

    Hi Ju,

Here are two links that may help.

Divorcee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
divorcee - definition of divorcee by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. (#1; the Thesaurus still uses the old ways: divorcée = a woman divorced; divorcé = a man divorced)

    Hope it helps.

    Greetings,

    Re: 'single ....

It's more straightforward to descibe the marital status of both men and women as: single, divorced, or widowed.
To these traditional terms we can now add: legal partnership.
