    Through

    Is "through" the right preposition below?

    "Any deviating oral agreements will become effective only through our written confirmation."

    "By means of" might be better; I'm not sure.

    I don't, though I prefer 'with'

    If the sentence is meant to be part of a legal agreement, then I would re-phrase the sentence anyway:

    Any oral agreement deviating from the preceding written agreement will come into effect only when we have confirmed it in writing.
