    tilings happening in life

    Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask what tilings means in the following context:

Do not despair if you forget to apply the Tao. It takes a lot of work to consistently think and act like a sage. Fortunately, most of us have so many tilings happening in life that we will never run out of opportunities to practice. If youkeep at it, you will begin to see the unmistakable signs of change in your life. They will open the door to a world that is richer and more fulfilling than most people can imagine.

You appear to be referring to a translation from another language. Tilings has no meaning here. Tiling is an area covered with tiles.

    Thank you, apex2000.

But this phrase also appears in some texts from american sources:

    tilings happening in life:

    For example:

There were a lot of tilings happening in my life at that time that I felt I wanted to sing about but nobody was writing about the things I

Could it be a mistake caused by the text recognition program, and could it really be "things happening in life" instead of "tilings happening in life"?

Yes, it could be things, but the reference to Tao in your first query suggested to me that it was a translation matter.

If this is AmE then we must wait for someone with experience of that to comment.

I think it's things- most of those examples in Google look like mistakes. For example, the first in the list is:
    http://books.google.ru/books?id=ZWI2...ed=0CDIQ6AEwAw

If you open the link, you can clearly see it says Things not Tilings. And most of the rest would make more sense if they said things. Also, a few of the sites are Google's Russian Books sites, so it could be the scanning software in those cases.

    Thank you very much, Tdol.
