    how to use ever?

    hello,
"Ever" is used in many senses: to empahasise something, as "forever" and in negative and possitive sentences as well. I wnat to know if we can use it in the following sense:
We were very good friends ever. ( i mean, we were good friends in past but not now)
These novels were my most favourite novels ever( in the same sense as above)
Please acorrect the following sentences also:
I love this book. It was still there in my bookshelf, but one of my friend took it to read.
I got this bad habit off you.
There was some problem with my computer, that's why i could not reply to your email in time.
    Thanxxx

    Re: how to use ever?

The sense you're looking for doesn't work with [1] or [2]. In [2] 'ever' translates as of all time.

[2] These novels were my most favourite novels ever. (of all time)

    But,

[1] We were very good friends ever. (of all time)

    Try,

S/he was my best friend ever.

    ====

Sam: (handing a book to Max) Have you read this book?
Max: (taking the book) I love this book. It was on my bookshelf, but one of my friends took it to read.

Sam: Look at the pages! Someone has turned the corners down. I hate that.
Max: I do that. It's a bad habit, I agree. (turning the corner of the page down) I got this bad habit off you.

There was a problem with my computer, that's why I could not reply to your email in time.
