    "the Canterville ghost"

I'm reading the book "the Canterville goast"by Oscar Wilde. In chapter I ,there is a sentence,"so does the family doctor,Lord Canterville"
    What does "so" refer to?

"but our ghost has been in the house for three hundred years, and it always appears before the death of one of the family."(said Load Canterville)
"Well,so ndoes the family doctor,..."(said Mr Otis.)

so does the family doctor = the family doctor also appears (before the death of one of the family).
We normally leave a space after a punctuation mark - ...'Wilde. In...', not '...Wilde.In...'

    Re: "the Canterville ghost"

The ghost always appears before the death of one of the family.

So does the doctor. = The doctor also always appears before the death of one of the family.
