    Dear all,

What is Parkway Marina? Is it a park or a hotel or what? I can't find it.

    Thanks.

It could be this: Parkway Marina at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia

Try to understand marina as a business that rents space (on the water next to a dock) to people who wish to leave their boat in the water. The boat owners can leave for a trip, (short or long) return to the marina, leave their boat there, and go home.
So we can translate it, generally, as a port if there is no special context.

We can repharse it as "South Park" port.

    Can that be?

    Thanks.

Ports may or may not have areas where a person can secure his/her boat while this is the main function of a marina.

Thanks a lot for your patience and thorough explanation. I still can't get it, though. There is something missing I guess. I don't know what is it!

let me ask: IS "marina" a part of the name or it's ditinguishing the name?

Gillnetter told you what a marina is. Parkway Marina is the name.

Caravan sites are for places where people can park their caravans for short or long periods. Marinas are places where people can moor their yachts or power boats for short or long periods. Most caravan sites and marinas, like hotels, have names. The name may tell you where the marina is, Brighton Marina, the name of the person or company owning it Sparkes Marina, or it may be something else, Solent View Marina or Safeberth Marina.

The Marina to which Bhaisa provided a link used to be called Saunders Marina. We assume that Saunders was the name of the person or company owning it. It is now named after the nearbySmith Mountain Lake Parkway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkway, just minutes from the Smith Mountain Lake State Park.
