[Grammar] subject to or subjected to

In the following sentence should it be "subject to" or "subjected to"? I get very confused as previous boss had used "subject to" and current boss had used "subjected to":

'If companies insisted for the product to carry therapeutic claims, they would then be subjected to pre-market control under ABC'.

Thanks for the explanation from Merriam. Based on the explanation from Merriam, am I right to say the correct one should be "subject to" for the sentence ?

'If companies insisted for the product to carry therapeutic claims, they would then be subject to pre-market control under ABC'.
