    the spokesman or a ???

The spokesman for BN(British Naturists) said as quoted,"We are going to be supporting our members in court legally, unless there has been disorderly indecent behaviour.''

The reason I used "the" before spokesman is that I thought there could be only one spokesman for a big organisation? What about grammar?

Re: the spokesman or a ???

You're right, "the" is correct. Perhaps there are more spokesmen in the organization, but we don't care much about it. It's the spokesman for this particular occasion anyway. What do you mean by "what about grammar?"
