Is "on" correct in the sentence below? "With" seems to be a better fit to me.

"There’s no such clarity when it comes to the likes of Bryant, Nowitzki and Jennings, because all three would remain under contract to their current NBA employers during a lockout."

For "contract", haa?

1- Imagine a contract is like a cover, a blanket. You remain under your blanket so that you keep yourself warm, because it is cold out there ! I think about it in this manner, i.e. figuratively.

2- As i understood when you say "on a contract to", what comes after "to" is an infinitive.

3- As I understood "on contract" functions as an adverb.

4- we can say "has a contract with". I am not sure if we can say "remain under contract with" ("with" in place of "to"). I guess it is like "I got married to Jane".

The only "on" in that sentence is in "contract." "Cwithtract" sounds wrong to me.

I must've suffered a brain cramp while writing that post. I meant to write "to," not "on." "Under contract with" sounds better to me. What do you think?

Don't worry, Jasmin, we all have our brain cramps.

Both under contract to and under contract with are used.

I'm not sure about the other points made in this article, but the use of "to" reinforces the obligations the players hold to the teams.
