    Figure of speech?

Is there a figure of speech or if there's none, what do you call altering the spelling of a word for the sake of creativity or fun?

    Re: Figure of speech?

    I am not a teacher.

The general term for spelling changes is metaplasm. Paronomasia is punning. I don't know of a word for only playful changes of whatever variety.

    "Poetic license" might work.
