Dear teachers,

I would like to know how you pronounce 'my marriage's future'.

I.e.: is 'marriage' now extended with a third syllable, so as to hear the 's?

thanks & kind regards,

Joost

If I were you, I'd just say the future of my marriage.

I hear you, engee30, but I have to fit it into a poem's metre...

But maybe 'married future' is a good substitute?

Not the same thing.

My married future refers to me, and my future as a married person.
My marriage's future refers to the future of my relationship. If you're heading toward divorce, your marriage's future is a short one!

The pronunciation would be marriage-iz.

No, married future doesn't look good to me. The future of my married life would be better.
So, since you need it in your poem, then I think that'd be fine.

Sometimes I have the same problem. Any source which can help me with pronouncing "s" and "ed" at the end of the nouns and verbs? I would like to have a review on this pronounciation topic.

Post your question in the 'Pronunciation and Phonetics' forum. I expect you'll get a response there, but, if not, I'll give you a full answer tomorrow.
