    the usage of "as"

    I can't understand the meaning of this sentence " He became as good a friend,emplpyer and man, as anyone in London or in the world"
    Please explain me the meaning of sentence and the usage of "as".

    He was as good a friend, etc, as anyone in London, etc.

    So,

    Noone was better as a friend, etc.

    So,

    The writer is effectively saying that 'he' was the best friend, the best employer, and the best person that one can imagine.
