    push on/ push up

    Dear teachers,

Would you share with me your opinion concerning the interpretation of the phrasal verbs in bold in the following sentence?

We roamed about sweet Sonning for an hour or so, and then, it being too late to push on past Reading, we decided to go back to one of the Shiplake islands, and put up there for onе night.

push on = continue or proceed along one’s way; continuing moving forward

    push up = accommodate

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards,

    Is that '...for one night.'?
"put up" means to stay there for the night.

And "push on" means to continue travelling.
