    Is this a good sentence?

I read a sentence "Just as the notion of continuous time made us think in terms of transition rate rather than transition probabilities, so we must redefine the concept of reward." from a textbook.

I am confused with the structure of "Just as ..., so ...." What kind of sentence of this?

    Thank you,

    Neil

Just as... means In the same way that...

Just as we outgrow our belief in Santa Claus, so must we stop believing in politicians' promises.

Thank you for your help and it seems that "so" here is an adverb instead of a conjunction.
