    put up a fight?

What do you mean by put up a fight?
Are you fighting or trying to fight?

    Halo- Beyonce
    Remember those walls I built
    Well baby they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make a sound

If you put up a fight, you resist. In this case the walls did not resist whatever it was that made them fall.
