I'm wondering which question word, what or who, I should use in the sentences below. I came up with the following:

- What did you want to work as when you were a child? - A taxi driver.
- Who did you want to be when you were a child? - A ballerina.

What did you want to be? -- Asks specifically about a profession.

What did you want to do? -- It could be about a profession, or it could include answered like "travel the world" or "make movies" or "cure cancer."

- Who did you want to be when you were a child?

This is more likely to be answered by tha name of a famous person, such as Princess Di or Madonna,
