    Smile cotton knits

Please chech out the following sentence. Is it acceptable?

Hundreds of years ago, aborigines in Taiwan used tree bark or flaxen thread to crochet cotton knits, then color the clothes.

I think that use of cotton knit is ok, but I think a person who works with fabric and clothes-making could answer better. You could say "cotton garments" or "cotton shirts" or "cotton sweaters", whichever is appropriate.

I think you should end the sentence with, "then they would color the clothes." The way you wrote it, it could mean that they used bark and thread to color the clothes.

I don't think that you 'crochet' cotton 'knits'. Knitting and crocheting are different processes. I also think that the use of 'knits' as a noun for 'knitted clothes' is quite modern. It sounds out of place when we are talking about aboriginal work centuries ago.

ah, now that you mention that I agree about cotton knits being too modern.
