    plz tell me whether the following sentence is grammatically correct or not.

    "This was the only thing which held you my respect."

    Maybe:

    I held respect for you only because of this.
    due to this I held respect for you.
    The only reason I held respect for you was this.

    *just an assistant ESL teacher.

    I would say no, but maybe in some dialect. You probably want to say something like, "That was the only thing that I respected about you."

    That's much better! "hold" doesn't sound necessary here. We should first know what rohanvora really wants to say.

    I am not a teacher.

    No. "Hold" is unidiomatic there. We hold people in "high esteem" or "contempt"---we can't hold them in respect, and we certainly can't hold them our respect. I suspect you were going for, "This was the only thing that won you my respect."
